Long Branch Fire & History Museum
46 Atlantic Avenue, Long Branch NJ 07740
The Long Branch Fire Department has a rich history dating back to 1866. Neptune Hook-Ladder & Hose Company was the first organized fire company in Monmouth County.
In 1890 Oliver Byron Fire Company formed with membership cross over between the seaside hamlets of Monmouth Beach, Galilee, Fishtown, Atlanticville, and Sea Bright.
The mission of the Long Branch Fire & History Museum is to cultivate a collection of historic objects, artifacts and archives that tell the story of the Long Branch Fire Department as well as the rich history of our city.
Through permanent, semi-permanent and revolving displays, the Long Branch Fire & History Museum will collect, archive, interpret, and educate the community in an inviting and interesting environment. With programming and special events, we will promote fire safety and prevention, volunteerism, and careers in firefighting, as well as honor public service and those who have fallen.
What to expect in the exhibition:
- c 1880 Babcock Chemical Engine
- c 1880 Silsby Hose Cart
- c 1890 Hose Wagon
- c 1890 Wirt & Knox Fire Jumper Hose Reel
- c 1900 Wirt & Knox Hose Cart
- Antique photos, equipment and memorabilia.
A special thank you to everyone who assisted in refurbishing the historic building to help tell the rich history of the Long Branch Fire Department. Thank you always to the Fire Fighters, past and present, who respond to our community in times of emergency and help make a Long Branch a great place to live, work and visit.
