LONG BRANCH RECEIVES STATEWIDE AWARD, BECOMES 1 OF 28 "CERTIFIED SILVER STATUS" FROM SUSTAINABLE NJ
The City of Long Branch received the prestigious Sustainable Jersey Collaboration Award for its restoration work in Jackson Woods. The award highlights the importance of community partnerships, which the City's Friends of Jackson Woods, Green Team and Environmental Commission have worked with various organizations, community groups and businesses to improve the park. The City of Long Branch is also proud to be renewed as a Silver Certified municipality with Sustainable Jersey and is committed to continuing efforts to reduce environmental impact.
The City of Long Branch received the coveted Silver Certification with Sustainable Jersey in 2022 and was renewed for the period of 2024 - 2027. The City was 1 of only 28 Certified Silver Communities with 486 participating municipalities in the State, and 1 of 3 municipalities in Monmouth County to receive Silver Status. Certified municipalities are national leaders in addressing sustainability challenges including reducing waste, improving public health, stimulating local economies, and increasing resiliency. The City has already made significant progress in areas such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and public information and engagement, and plans to continue to work hard to make Long Branch even more sustainable.
