The City of Long Branch has seen an increase in the promotion of unpermitted events, commonly referred to as “Pop-Up Parties” and/or “Linkups”, in violation of City Ordinance 247-4.
These events encourage attendees to bring their own alcohol and cannabis, promote other unpermitted activities on the Long Branch Public Beaches as per City Ordinance 116-5, and create increased potential for public safety and health hazards.
Whenever credible information is received regarding the possibility of one of these events, the City of Long Branch will continue to take immediate action to prevent and deter such events from occurring.
In addition to a large police response to a potential event, the City of Long Branch may also take the following actions:
• Strictly enforcing all Beach Ordinances
• Preventing any bags/coolers on the beach and/or boardwalk
• Closing beaches early
• Implementing a curfew
• Restricting parking
The City of Long Branch will take all necessary steps to hold those responsible for organizing and/or promoting such unpermitted events accountable, both legally and financially.
The City of Long Branch welcomes all visitors. However, unpermitted events are illegal in the city of Long Branch, pose a threat to the peaceful nature of our community and will not be tolerated. Any such event will be met with swift and effective legal and or enforcement action.
As always, we encourage members of the public to share with us any information that they come across on social media or via other means in regards to public safety concerns. Please call the police department at 732-222-1000 with any information you feel may assist.
