Tax Collector

How To Pay My Taxes

The building is now open to the public and you can come into the office in person or there is a grey unmarked box near the east side door (at the top of the ramp, attached to the brick pillar) where check payments can be dropped. This box is secure and is emptied multiple times a day. Please do not fold envelopes before inserting. As always you can mail your payment in, please be aware that this office must post payments and calculate interest to the date the payment is received in our office and not the postmark date.

  1. Checks should be made payable to: City of Long Branch. The Block and Lot should be referenced on the check and the payment stub should be included.
  2. If you would like a receipt, please enclose your entire tax bill along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
  3. There is a ten-day grace period for quarterly tax payments. Payments must be received by the tenth (10th) day of the month in which taxes are due. Postmarks are not accepted. If you are using your bank's bill pay feature please allow 15 days as a paper check is issued and can take that long to reach our office.

The Division of Tax Collection has the responsibility of the billing and tax collection of real estate taxes for the City of Long Branch. The Tax Collector's Office will assist property owners of the City of Long Branch with the various State of New Jersey and local relief programs that are available.

Real estate taxes are due quarterly, on the first of February, May, August, and November. There is a ten-day grace period where interest is not charged. If not paid by the 10th calendar day, interest reverts back to the due date. The City of Long Branch does not honor a postmark but the date of receipt when posting payments and calculating interest. Please make sure that the block number and lot number of the property is on your payment for account identification. Do not use the account or bill number printed on your bill as they are not used in the current tax program.
